Re "Water regulators need to target pot farms" (Viewpoints, Aug. 8): Recent articles highlight the fundamental lawlessness of California's medical marijuana trafficking. In addition to the environmental damage caused by marijuana cultivation, medical marijuana stores are magnets for crime in the communities where they're located. That's why 200 cities have banned them.
Unfortunately, Senate Bill 439 would open the door for mega-dollar marijuana stores in our communities. The recent double murder at a marijuana store in Bakersfield should cause everyone to see the dangers posed by SB 439.
