Re "Gold Rush in housing fuels a fight" (Page A1, Aug. 10): Developers coming to El Dorado County are doing the classic "bait and switch". What they first ask for and what they end up getting is completely different. The project in Shingle Springs called Tilden Park has nothing to do with a park. If they are allowed to build what they want on this 12 acres (currently zoned R1A, one acre per home) there won't be a blade of grass left. Besides adding 4,500 extra cars to Ponderosa Road and Hwy 50, they want to cram the following into 12 acres: an 80-room, 4-story hotel; 120-seat restaurant; 20,000-square foot food market; 4-story commercial building; 14 houses.
The people of this county are getting informed and involved and we are telling the developers they can find another beautiful county to dump their junk into in the name of greed.
