Hot weather expected for Sacramento today

Sacramento highs will hit the mid-90s again today and Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

The marine layer is showing signs of developing, which would usher in cool Delta breezes this afternoon. Otherwise, forecasters predict little change in the weather until the weekend, which is when highs are expected to drop to the low-90s.

Tuesday's high was 98 - five degrees above the normal high for mid-August, and the first time temperatures were above normal in well over a week.

Here is the NWS 7-day forecast:

Today: Sunny and hot, with a high near 96. South southeast wind 5 to 10 mph.

Tonight: Clear, with a low around 60. South southeast wind 8 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 95. South southeast wind around 7 mph.

Thursday night: Clear, with a low around 62. South wind 8 to 10 mph.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 93. South southeast wind around 7 mph.

Friday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 59.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 90.

Saturday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 60.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 92.

Sunday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 61.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 93.

Monday night: Clear, with a low around 61.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 91.
