Re "Front-runner Clinton faces 2016 challenges" (Page A14, Aug. 11): The GOP had a stunning election disaster in 2012, losing the White House badly, losing two U.S. Senate seats when they were poised to take control, and also losing eight U.S. House seats.
Leading the Republican Party in this flaming mishap was Reince Priebus, and yet the confused GOP put him right back at the helm, akin to giving the captain of the Titanic a return-voyage. It appears the GOP has learned nothing from its mistakes as they stumble ahead with business as usual: fighting against immigration reform, removing and restricting women's health choices, and suppressing as many minority voters as possible.
Many of our red states now engage in minority voter suppression and Priebus quietly approves and encourages, since the GOP can't secure minority votes with its ongoing behavior. Look for a repeat of the 2012 results and beyond, until they change leadership and become a viable party.
