Re "Suit hits arena vote drive" (Page A1, Aug. 16) and "Arena foes should disclose financing": Why is The Bee directing all the attention toward who is funding the drive to obtain signatures to put the arena funding on the ballot instead of taking a position on if it's a good idea for the taxpayers to approve paying for the cost of a big expensive project that has limited public support?
The whole Kevin Johnson/developer group is doing everything it can to prevent the question from being placed before the electorate.
Without anyone knowing the source, could it be they paid the $80,000 so everyone's attention would be misdirected? They know that there's a very good possibility any ballot issue would be voted down so they'll do whatever it takes to never have the question asked.
I'm disappointed that The Bee is a willing participant in the misdirection away from the real issue which is, "Do you want to forego other projects due to arena funding?"
