Cats glance: Sacramento scores five in ninth, shuts down Iowa to tie for South Division lead

Highlight: The River Cats exploded with a five-run ninth inning that propelled Sacramento to a 9-1 win over the Iowa Cubs on Thursday afternoon in the final game of the series at Principal Park.

Barton's blast: Infielder Daric Barton blasted his seventh home run of the season to power the River Cats in Des Moines. He is batting .291 with 65 RBIs this season.

Playoff push: The win was Sacramento's 11th in August. The River Cats are tied with the Las Vegas 51s for first place in the Pacific Coast League Pacific South Division heading into a four-game series with Tucson beginning tonight at Raley Field.

Nine's a charm: Michael Choice's two-run double capped the River Cats' offensive burst in the final inning, putting an exclamation mark on the victory.

Today: River Cats RHP Travis Banwart (8-5, 4.64 ERA) vs. Tucson RHP Anthony Bass (3-5, 5.97), 7:05 p.m., Raley Field.
