Sacramento Bee readers share their gardening adventures.
This has been a wonderful summer for flowers; not too hot but dry and sunny. Lynda and Dan Garcia of Sacramento shared the vibrant show thats been on display in their own backyard.
When spring arrives, I cant wait to start planting, said Lynda Garcia. Our garden is small but is where I create a peaceful place to decompress and relax.
Each year, the garden is different, she added, and although an attempt is made to control the outcome, it sometimes has a mind of its own. This year, the rudbekias were especially showy! Not to be outdone, the zinnias grew tall and bloomed their hearts out.
The Garcias spotted one especially happy zinnia it smiled back at Lynda. One evening as I was watering and thinking of a friend who had recently passed away, I came upon this smiley face, Lynda said. It had to be from heaven.
