Re "McKinley Village fits city goals" (Letters, Aug. 15): I have been intimately involved with neighborhood issues in East Sacramento for more than 15 years. I served as President of McKinley East Sac Neighborhood Association and I also worked as Land Use Co-Chair for years before that.
The larqe infill project for the Sutter Memorial Hospital site was embraced by my neighbors because the project proponents took many months to hear neighbors, listen, and make adjustments to their project. No one knows their neighborhood better then the neighbors!
Sadly, Phil Angelides of McKinley Village seems to want what he wants without doing the legwork. He has done very little listening to neighbors, and he has made almost no changes to his project because he does not want to listen. He appears to want to continue without neighborhood input and he has offended people with his continued inability to hear voices in East Sacramento.
