Highlight: Hiro Nakajima collected three hits, Shane Peterson and Anthony Aliotti had two each, and Andrew Werner earned his 11th win as the River Cats downed the Tucson Padres 5-4 on Sunday evening at Raley Field. Peterson, Aliotti and Nakajima have combined for 19 hits in the last two games.
Red-hot Cats: The River Cats extended their record home winning streak to 10 games. They are 22-9 (14-1 at home) since the All-Star break and 14-3 in August.
Late scratch: Left-hander Tommy Milone was scheduled to start Sunday's game for the River Cats but was called up by the A's to start against the Cleveland Indians. To replace Milone, the A's signed free agent Mike Zagurski, a left-handed reliever who last played for the Pittsburgh Pirates. The transactions were the 100th and 101st of the season for the River Cats.
