Sunny skies and warm temperatures are in the forecast for the Sacramento region today.
The National Weather Service is predicting a slight chance of isolated thunderstorms, possibly later this afternoon.
"The main threat is just today and tonight," said weather service forecaster Stefanie Henry. "Most of the activity will be over higher terrain and north of Sacramento."
Today's high temperature will hover around 92 degrees. A cooling trend is in play for the rest of the week, with temperatures dropping into the upper-80s by Sunday.

Today: Isolated showers and thunderstorms after noon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 92. South wind 6 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 61. South southwest wind 8 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph.
Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 89. South wind 7 to 11 mph.
Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 62. South southeast wind around 8 mph.
Friday: Sunny, with a high near 95. South southeast wind around 5 mph becoming west southwest in the afternoon.
Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 63.
Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 93.
Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 60.
Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 88.
Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 59.
Monday: Sunny, with a high near 89.
Monday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 59.
Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 89.
