Today's 24th annual Lake in the Sky Airshow in South Lake Tahoe has been canceled because of poor air quality caused by the Rim and American wildfires outside the Tahoe basin.

Also canceled are Sunday's Young Eagles Flights, said Tracy Franklin, the city's public information officer, in a news release.

According to Franklin, Dave Johnston, El Dorado County's air pollution control officer, said visibility Friday had been reduced to one mile and that air-quality conditions were at an "unhealthy" rating.
