There were plenty of things to see and do at the Salida Town and Country Festival in downtown on Saturday, Aug. 24. It wasn't too long ago that Salida boasted a population of 700 people. The once-tiny town has grown to become the county's largest unincorporated community, with some 13,000 residents. What started out as an idea to bring townspeople, who mostly live in subdivisions close to Highway 99, and country folks together has grown into a tradition in this fast-growing community. The Salida Town & Country Parade and Festival on Saturday was a hub-bub of activity, with arts and crafts and food booths, and a farmers market.
