Re "Capital steps up Delta battle" (The Public Eye, Aug. 25): In the article, the city of Sacramento is characterized as opposed to the governor's Bay Delta Conservation Plan (BDCP). To be clear, Sacramento has not taken a formal position on BDCP. Sacramento is interested in a thoughtful solution that protects the sensitive habitat of the Delta, improves the state's future water supply, protects the region's water rights, and provides a governance role for stakeholders throughout California. Sacramento does have strong concerns over the current draft of the BDCP, but we also recognize that a fair solution needs to be found. We would like to see the state government enter into a collaborative conversation with northern Californian governments and water agencies to find a solution that works for everyone. We are committed to working with the governor, our regional partners and statewide water interests to find one.
