Cats glance: Cats beat Fresno, pick up a game on Las Vegas

Highlight: Travis Banwart notched his 10th victory, and Hiro Nakajima and Michael Choice drove in runs to lead the River Cats past the Fresno Grizzlies 2-1 Tuesday night at Raley Field.

Chasing Vegas: The River Cats gained a game on the first-place Las Vegas 51s, who lost 13-12 to Colorado Springs. The 51s' magic number is four.

Tough loss: Grizzlies starter Justin Fitzgerald, who pitched at UC Davis from 2005 to 2008, went six innings, allowed two runs and struck out nine.

New record holder: Brian Gordon posted his 21st save to break the River Cats' record for a season. He had been tied with Santiago Casilla, formerly Jairo Garcia.

Grizzlies starter: Today's Fresno starter is Mitch Lively, who pitched for Sacramento State from 2004 to 2007.

Today's game: River Cats RHP Arnold Leon (4-3, 4.15 ERA) vs. Fresno RHP Mitch Lively (7-5, 5.02), 7:05 p.m., Raley Field.
