Re "Rules smack gun sellers" (Our Region, Aug. 28): As a Sacramento resident, I'm greatly relieved that in the future I can expect crimes involving guns to plummet in the city due to new regulations and fees imposed on new firearms dealers.
Now that we have the ball rolling, it's high time we reduce drunk driving in Sacramento by making it more difficult for auto dealers and stores selling alcoholic beverages to locate here. Let's attack obesity by jacking up fees and red tape for new bakeries, ice cream parlors and fast food restaurants. Of course we'll need to prevent residents from crossing city limits to purchase these goods, and we'll have to crack down hard on bartering and black market sales, but these are small sacrifices to make for the common good.
