Re "Fire fight's tab: $20 million -- so far" (Page A1, Aug. 27): Why the gratuitous reference to Capt. Jerry Winter's age below the picture of him resting before resuming the night shift while fighting the Rim fire?
Is it because we're amazed someone 61 years old is still working? Probably not; he's not yet eligible for Social Security. And if somehow age is relevant, why not list it for Engineer Scott Stanfield, also identified in the picture? Or singer Robin Thicke and others featured in Names & Faces? The Bee should report age only when it's a newsworthy fact. Otherwise, don't.
