Re "Rules smack gun sellers" (Our Region, Aug. 28): The city of Sacramento is doing something rational about gun shops. Getting more control over location and operation makes good sense.
Here in Galt we had an interesting situation in 1993. The City Council was very worried after an adult dance business opened in Lodi and thought that Galt would be invaded by such operations. The council passed an ordinance controlling the location of any business that had inventory or sales of more than 25 percent of sexual material. This covered books, videos, toys and pretty much anything else to do with sex. The locations allowed had to be in out-of-the-way places. However, at the same time a gun store opened a block from the high school. There were no complaints from the community or the city. I am glad to see the city of Sacramento take the action they did.
