To promote the opening game of the season – the Ravens at the Broncos on Sept. 5 – the NFL has put up banners all over Denver, including a gigantic one at Sports Authority Field.

And all that publicity has Broncos fans very angry – for good reason, since the banners feature Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco.

Seriously, NFL, how could you be so insensitive? This time, the No Fun League could be called the Numb (and) Foolish League.

Sure, Flacco led Baltimore to victory over the 49ers in the Super Bowl, and as defending champs the Ravens would be hosting the Broncos if not for a scheduling conflict with the Orioles.

To be fair, Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning gets equal billing on the stadium banners, but fans in Denver haven't forgotten that Flacco and the Ravens ended the Broncos' season in a double-overtime thriller in the playoffs last January.

Now there's a movement in Denver to "tape Flacco's face," with fans putting giant X's on the banners with duct tape.

And one tweet even suggested that "when the #BRONCOS beat the ravens the @nfl should let the Denver fans rip down that flacco poster and use it to start a bonfire."

Broncos fans should be angry.

Can you imagine banners of Aaron Rodgers along the streets of San Francisco and at Candlestick Park to promote the 49ers' opener Sept. 8 against the Packers?
