Re "U.S. set to act alone on Syria" (Page A1, Aug. 30): It makes no sense for Syrian President Bashar Assad to have used chemical weapons. Why would he want to make himself an international pariah and invite an attack when he is winning?
It does make sense for the crime to have been perpetrated by those who want a pretext for attacking Syria. The United States has no right to attack another sovereign member nation of the United Nations. Syria has committed no aggression, attacked no other country, done nothing to America. Hands off Syria. Hands off the Middle East.
