What: Hardworking dogs will show their skills at the Alpha Dog K9 Competition at Stone Creek Park in Rancho Cordova. There will be games, tactical obedience and trick-and-obedience demonstrations, and agility drills. Children's activities will also be available. Proceeds will help purchase ballistic vests, training for service dogs and new beds for the Sacramento County Animal Shelter.

Art of sidewalks
What: In its 23rd year, Chalk It Up Sacramento will again celebrate art and music at Fremont Park. The event will feature more than 200 sidewalk paintings created by area artists, who donate their time and talents. Local businesses, organizations and individuals sponsor each sidewalk square to support children's art programs. Local bands will perform each day.

Greece is the word
What: The 50th annual Sacramento Greek Food Festival continues at the Sacramento Convention Center. Greek food, including pastitsio, spanakopita and dolmathes, is the main attraction, but there will also be book and print signing by artist Gregory Kondos, music by Takis Kokotas and more.
Where: 1400 J St., Sacramento.

Cost: Entrance fee is $5; children 11 and younger free.
What: The seventh annual Sacramento Tejano/Conjunto Festival will celebrate the sound and spirit of two musical traditions at Cesar Chavez Plaza. Blending Mexican-Spanish vocal traditions with Czech and German dance tunes and instruments, Tejano ("Texan") and Conjunto ("Group") music has spread from their roots in the Lone Star State. This year's event will feature Little Joe, backed by his band La Familia, plus many other performers.

John Wayne in Old Sac
What: An outdoor movie, "In Old California" starring John Wayne, will be shown on the lawn in Old Sacramento. The story for the 1942 Western also takes place in Old Sacramento. The movie is part the Gold Rush Days celebration.
