Re "Bee's arena stories; Fair?" (Joyce Terhaar, Forum, Aug. 25): Joyce Terhaar asked and answered her query as though there were no other questions about the issue. After all, The Sacramento Bee is pro-arena! She even threw in a few self-congratulating pats on the back for finding some financial wrongdoing in a town that's neck deep in dirty politics.
The Bee's reporting has largely avoided the underlying question: Should the City of Sacramento be using a very large amount of public assets to fund an arena without the consent of the people?
The Bee has unfairly divided the controversy into pro- and anti-arena groups, but the issue is about public funding. The Bee has failed its readers by not asking why the Kings owners -- a group of millionaires and billionaires -- can't pay for the arena themselves. Why are taxpayers being put at risk? Watch out Stockton and Detroit, here we come!
