Re "Arena bill gains steam" (Page A1, Aug. 31): Isn't it amazing that Senate President Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg can speed up the process for something he wants like the downtown arena? And yet, if there is a bill that he is against, he /can manipulate the process to slow down or eliminate its passage.
Why can't there be a vote from the people -- all the people -- who will pay for the arena? And where are the "onerous" environmentalists for this "fast track"? Thank goodness I don't live in Sacramento where my vote doesn't count. It's enough that I live in a super majority state where my vote doesn't count.
