Re "Battle set on island habitat" (Page A1, Sept. 1): I appreciate The Sacramento Bee's effort to keep citizens informed about this impending project that will do nothing short of destroying an entire region, economically and environmentally. Glaringly absent is the article addressing why Gov. Jerry Brown wants this so badly. Many say follow the money or follow the stakeholders: unions, Westlands Water District and Southern California's water interests.
That something as serious as this tunnel project and the incredible harm it will do to the region and people, is not being fully looked into for fear of upsetting Brown and his minions is curious. Has anyone wondered about Brown' fixation with getting water to Southern California? Perhaps the real story here is his "daddy issues" and his legacy -- the quintessential story of the rebellious prodigal son.
