Re "Fat-cat Norm does a pub crawl" (Our Region, Sept. 1): OK, I'll play the "Debbie Downer" role in terms of the extreme lack of concern for Norm the cat's welfare by The Bee, the city shelter and the owner herself. This cat is morbidly overweight and will die of the effects of diabetes if he doesn't first get hit by a car, torn apart by dogs or coyotes, or any other myriad of horrible endings.
Outdoor cats live less than half as long as indoor cats, while also decimating native bird populations. I can't be particularly amused by the nonchalance of humans who treat cats as so much disposable garbage. Yeah, the shelter made some money, but boo that no one ever raised the issue of responsible pet ownership and how Norm's situation is the epitome of how not be a good pet caretaker.
