Re "An immigrant's ordeal" (Page A1, Sept. 2): In the article, I was not surprised to see that we are expected to sympathize with Alejandra Pinzon for entering the country illegally when her father brought her here at age 11. This is the father who, under the guise of a tourist visa, wanted to start a new and better life for his family. Now, in Mexico and wanting to return to attend college, she is considering, once again, entering the country illegally.
Such circumnavigation of our laws only insults those who chose to follow a legal path to citizenship and reduces available college funds for legal American students. We are a country of immigrants who wanted a better life but stood in line and chose the legal path seeking citizenship. "Undocumented" remains illegal regardless of spelling. -- Bob Kill, Roseville
