Re "Congress must step up on Syria crisis" (Editorials, Sept. 3): Everyone knows that President Barack Obama does not need a vote from Congress to launch an attack on Syria. Our president drew the "red line" without consulting Congress. If he believes it is the right thing to do, then he should order the attack.
I believe the only reason that President Obama wants a vote from Congress is to give him cover should things go awry. The Republican Congress should vote the way Sen. Obama would vote -- and that is present. Let the Democrats take us to war if that is what they wish.
