Re "Heated debate at Syria hearing" (Page A1, Sept. 4): I am relieved that President Barack Obama decided to take the Syria crisis to Congress for several reasons. First, it's the law. Second, a full discussion of the role of the United States taking military action needs to include many voices.
While Sens. Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein each show some restraint, I think that their support for Secretary of State John Kerry's analysis is a bit hasty. I hope that they will look for every possible way to respond with diplomacy. Rep. Doris Matsui is responding much the way our senators are.
Each of us needs to contact our representatives to share our views.
