Organizers said hundreds of Sacramento-area Walmart employees and their supporters will be part of nationwide protests held Thursday by Walmart workers seeking better jobs and higher wages.
The local group will gather for its rally at 4 p.m. at Cesar Chavez Plaza, 10th and I streets, in Sacramento.
Organizers said state Assembly members Roger Dickinson, D-Sacramento; Richard Pan, D-Sacramento; and Lorena Gonzalez, D-San Diego, will be on-site.
Protesters want Walmart to commit to providing full-time work with a minimum annual salary of $25,000, reinstating workers who were fired for striking and stopping retaliation against workers calling for better jobs.
National protests have been organized a group called the Organization United for Respect at Walmart, or OUR Walmart for short.
