Re "Obama's strange strategy on Syria: A desert farce?" (Viewpoints, Sept. 4): Trudy Rubin writes a very cynical article about President Barack Obama's decision to target Syria. She asserts that Obama cannot make up his mind. Would she prefer someone like George W. Bush who made up his mind very quickly, but then got it wrong?
Unfortunately Obama does not have many like-minded people in the Congress. Most representatives seem to be influenced by politics or their own advancement and not the country's. Obama's ears have grown decidedly bigger while he listens to all the different opinions that must be expressed in a democracy. Hopefully when Congress votes, it will be in sync with Obama's cool logic. Isolationists and pacifists are all very well as long as it is not you sitting in a concentration or refugee camp.
