Dog-training ranch will host event with canine treats and exhibitions

Published: Thursday, Sep. 5, 2013 - 12:00 am | Page 2B

Is your dog a good citizen?

Find out Saturday during the American Kennel Club "responsible ownership day" event at the Gabby Jack Ranch Training Center.

Trainers will be administering the canine good citizen test for a $15 registration fee, as well as holding free sessions to teach dogs new tricks. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with free goodie bags for the first 20 dogs.

Gabby Jack Ranch is a nonprofit corporation that breeds and provides labradoodle and goldendoodle service dogs for the disabled, and for veterans through its homefront dogs program. So there will also be pet therapy and service dog demonstrations.

The training center is at 8212 Fair Oaks Blvd., Carmichael. For more information, call (916) 966-6758.
