Hot weather is just around the corner, according to the National Weather Service.
The moderate temperatures experienced this week will be gone this weekend with 100-degree weather expected Sunday in Sacramento. The triple-digit heat predicted to settle on the valley floor is about 10 degrees above normal for early September.
The hottest day during the mini heat wave is expected to be Monday, according to forecasters. The temperature on Monday is predicted to top out at 101 degrees, which is short of the record of 108 set in 1944.
The detailed, 7-day forecast for the Sacramento region from the NWS:
Today: Sunny, with a high near 87. Southwest wind around 8 mph.
Tonight: Clear, with a low around 62. South southwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light and variable after midnight.
Friday: Sunny, with a high near 92. Light west northwest wind becoming north northwest 9 to 14 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 18 mph.
Friday night: Clear, with a low around 65. Northwest wind 5 to 8 mph becoming calm in the evening.
Saturday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 97. Calm wind becoming northwest around 5 mph in the afternoon.
Saturday night: Clear, with a low around 66.
Sunday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 100.
Sunday night: Clear, with a low around 68.
Monday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 101.
Monday night: Clear, with a low around 66.
Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 95.
Tuesday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 63.
Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 93.
