Re "Video killings spotlight Syrian rebel extremists" (Page A1, Sept. 5): Oversimplification of Syrian situation: President Barack Obama gets congressional approval to fire missiles on Syria. Syria attacks Israel. U.S. becomes involved in prolonged conflict "with boots on the ground." End of conflict.
Obama apologizes and says he just ordered what Congress wanted and offers for the U.S. to rebuild both countries. All this at a cost to the United States in lives and dollars. History repeats itself. Will the next president say "Well, this is what I inherited?"
