Panda power

What: The Sacramento Zoo's Red Panda Day features interactive and educational activities to raise awareness about conservation. Children can decorate a red panda flag and visit a face painting station, among other activities.

Buried secrets

What: The Historic City Cemetery offers its Capitol Connections tour, telling stories of politicians and others associated with the Capitol building who are buried there.

Music in the park

What: The Launch music festival features more than 40 acts this weekend at Cesar Chavez Park, including Imagine Dragons, Girl Talk and Minus the Bear.

When: Gates open at 11:30 a.m.

Cost: Single day, $55; weekend, $75



Herd of runners

What: The Buffalo Chips Running Club holds its 39th annual Buffalo Stampede, a 10-mile run that starts and finishes at Rio Americano High School. The club will also hold a 10-mile Migration for slower participants and a free half-mile fun run for children. Beneficiaries include Rio Americano, McClatchy High School and Fit for Girls, an after-school program.
