Junior Matt Sheldon's header sent senior Nick Grigoriev's cross into the net for the only goal in host UC Davis' 1-0 win over Seattle on Friday, the school reported. The Aggies improved to 1-2-0 for the year.
Sheldon's score was the first by a UC Davis player in three games this season.
UC Davis outshot Seattle (0-3-0) 21-5 and held an 11-2 edge on corner kicks. The Aggies had five corner kicks in a six-minute span following Sheldon's goal in the eighth minute of the game.
The UC Davis women's soccer team opened a nine-match trip with a 1-0 loss to the USF on a goal in the 73rd minute Friday, UC Davis reported.
Unable to answer Rochelle Weerackoon's goal, the Aggies dropped to 2-2 overall.
Sac St. women fall in OT
UNLV ended 99 minutes of scoreless soccer with freshman Jordan Magnin's goal in the final seconds of the first overtime to beat Sacramento State 1-0 on Friday at Hornet Field, Sac State reported.
"It's tough because I thought we played our best game of the year," Sac State coach Randy Dedini said.
Hornets (1-3-0) junior goalkeeper Kimberly Mata made seven saves before UNLV (4-1-0) broke through.
The Sac State men's soccer team lost to CSU Bakersfield 3-0 in the first match of the Copa de Causeway at Hornet Field, the school reported.
The Hornets (1-1-0) had a 17-16 overall advantage in shots for the game, but CSU Bakersfield (1-1-0) placed seven shots on goal to four for the Hornets.
Hornets volleyball swept
San Jose State swept Sac State 25-19, 29-27, 25-17 in the first round of the Sacramento State Volleyball Invitational at Colberg Court, Sac State reported.
Kayla Beal, Sloan Lovett and Morgan Stanley each had nine kills for the Hornets (4-1).
