Sacramento-area temperatures to climb, forecasters say

Sacramento will see a noticeable warm-up in the next few days.

Today's high temperature is projected to hover around 98 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. On Sunday, the region will bake in 101 degree weather.

A high-pressure ridge is pushing up area temperatures, weather service forecaster George Cline said.

"It's well above normal, but not record temperatures yet," he said.

Here's the seven-day forecast:

Today: Sunny and hot, with a high near 98. North-northwest wind around 6 mph becoming south in the afternoon.

Tonight: Clear, with a low around 63. South-southeast wind 3-8 mph.

Sunday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 101. Calm wind becoming west around 6 mph in the afternoon.

Sunday night: Clear, with a low around 64. West wind around 6 mph becoming south in the evening.

Monday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 102. Light and variable wind becoming west around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Monday night: Clear, with a low around 64.

Tuesday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 99.

Tuesday night: Clear, with a low around 63.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 94.

Wednesday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 62.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 93.

Thursday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 60.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 89.
