• Offense: The running game was nonexistent for most of the contest. But when you have a quarterback surpass 400 yards through the air and a wideout surpass 200 receiving yards, blemishes tend to get overlooked. Grade:M/b> B+

• Defense: The Packers' 385 yards of offense would seem gaudy if the 49ers hadn't gained 494 yards. The 49ers, who were excellent tacklers a year ago, had three big whiffs in the first half. However, they stiffened when it counted in the end, and Eric Reid's debut was solid. Grade: C

• Special teams: Phil Dawson missed his first field-goal attempt of the season but hit the next two. C.J. Spillman, meanwhile, had a big hit on a kick return late in the game that helped the 49ers seal the victory. Grade: B+

• Overall: The 49ers beat a 2012 playoff team that was bent on revenge, and that can't be overstated. However, they must eliminate the errors and inconsistency that appeared at inopportune times if they want to climb to 2-0. The showdown in Seattle looms. Grade: B
