Hot weather again today in Sacramento

Another day of hot weather is forecast by the National Weather Service for the Sacramento region.

The mercury hit 101 degrees on Sunday and forecasters are calling for the same temperature today as a high pressure system remains along the West Coast.

A slow cooling trend is expected to begin Tuesday. The Delta breeze is expected to develop late Tuesday, providing a bit of relief and lowering daytime highs into the 90s for the remainder of the week.

The detailed, seven-day forecast from the NWS for the Sacramento region:

Today: Sunny and hot, with a high near 101. Calm wind becoming west northwest 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon.

Tonight: Clear, with a low around 65. West southwest wind 7 to 9 mph becoming south-southeast in the evening.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 95. South wind around 8 mph.

Tuesday night: Clear, with a low around 62. South wind 8 to 10 mph.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 92. South-southwest wind around 8 mph.

Wednesday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 62.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 93.

Thursday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 62.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 94.

Friday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 61.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 93.

Saturday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 61.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 91.
