The Bee posse's weekly update of the latest in area conditions, bargains, etc.

Course – What you need to know

Bing Maloney – Didn't recall so many false fronts on greens; No. 2 played as par-3 early in week

Dry Creek – All good, especially greens; rates fair and business brisk on Tuesday; hitting fairway no guarantee of direct shot to green with so many overhanging limbs

Empire Ranch – Fairways good, balls sit down in rough; in one bunker, on 12, and it wasn't pretty

Mather – Very good all around; gets high marks for not being overly wet like so many

Teal Bend – A good week for greens, now fully recovered from aerification and rolling pure

Whitney Oaks – Really perked up for Northern California Open; greens just right – firm, but not too firm, smooth and fast; fairways nice; some sand added to bunkers, it seems

WildHawk – Some progress on bunkers but many still need replacing; a lot of wet spots throughout, none bigger than lake-like puddle near eighth tee; greens OK but nowhere near as fast as Mather's, by comparison

Aerified last week: Woodcreek, Yocha Dehe; Aerified this week: Catta Verdera
