Regional digest: UC Davis volleyball tops Sacramento State

Valerie Brain had a match-high 15 kills for UC Davis as it shut out visiting Sacramento State 3-0 Tuesday night in a nonconference volleyball match.

The Aggies (4-4) defeated the Hornets (5-3) 25-12, 25-17, 25-22, according to the UC Davis athletics website.

Devon Damelio had 13 kills for the Aggies. Teammate Kaylin Squyres (Whitney High School) had 11 and Victoria Lee 10.

The Hornets were led by Kayla Beal (Dixon High) with eight kills.

Sac State men's golf team third in Pullman

• The Sacramento State men's golf team finished third in the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate tournament in Pullman, Wash., according to the tournament website.

The Hornets (842), led by Owen Taylor's final-round 68, finished third behind Washington State (836) and Cal State Fullerton (837). The Hornets' final-round 277 was one stroke off the team record. Taylor (204) was second overall, a stroke behind San Jose State's Cody Blick.

• The UCD women's team finished 11th in the Colonel Wollenberg Ptarmigan Ram Classic in Fort Collins, Colo. Cal (873) won the team title by 11 strokes over Colorado, according to Cal's athletics website. The Aggies (916) were led by Bev Vatananugulkit's three-round 227 total.
