Sacramento's Urijah Faber will fight Michael McDonald in the co-main event of the Ultimate Fighting Championship's final Fox event of the year - UFC on Fox 9 - at Sleep Train Arena on Dec. 14, the UFC confirmed Wednesday.
The main card, including Faber vs. McDonald, is expected to start about 5 p.m. and will be broadcast nationally on Fox (FOX40 in Sacramento). Preliminary bouts, broadcast on FS1, are expected to begin about 2 p.m.
Tickets will go sale on Oct. 4. The rest of the card has not been finalized.
Faber, a former World Extreme Cagefighting featherweight champion, has won three consecutive bouts, beating Ivan Menjivar and Scott Jorgensen before scoring a unanimous decision over Iuri Alcantara at UFC Fight Night 26 in Boston last month.
Sacramento last hosted a UFC card in 2007, which featured a headline bout between middleweight champion Anderson Silva and Nate Marquardt, who lost on a first-round TKO.
