Re "Editors debate violent images" (Joyce Terhaar, Sept. 8): Do we really need to see it? Violent images in our newspapers, that is, and on our news programs, for that matter.
I am a huge horror movie and slasher film buff. I have seen and at times enjoyed different films with explicit death and violent scenes. But with movies, you know it is fake.
If the graphic image in question helps the story by getting a point across and is not published for shock value, it should be used, but only as an aid to the story and not to make the story itself.
