Elizabeth Fortier, 11, holds a kitten at Central California SPCA. She was one of around 20 volunteers who came together for United Way of Fresno CountyÕs Annual Day of Caring at the SPCA. She helped the cat with socialization, basically getting the cat used to interaction with humans. The day of caring gathers volunteers from schools, businesses and individuals to work on service projects for community based organizations. Volunteers from Bank of America, WestCare, Bank of the West, US Script, Olam, Snapple, East Fresno Kiwanis, Girl Scouts, San Joaquin Valley College, Aetna
and many others took part. Painting, organizing, and landscaping are some of the jobs volunteers will take on for this worthwhile event.
A pancake breakfast was prepared by the Clovis Lions Club before the volunteers headed out to Poverello House, Tree Fresno, NaomiÕs House, Warnors Theatre, Ronald McDonald House, Community Food Bank, Habitat for Humanity, Hinds Hospice, Central California SPCA, Animal Rescue of Fresno and National Ovarian Cancer Coalition just to name a few.
