Re "Driver's license measure will make roads safer" (Editorial, Sept. 17): Putting aside the politics of providing driver's licenses to undocumented immigrants, your editorial states that there could be 1.4 million new licensed drivers on the road.
Currently, there are approximately 175 Department of Motor Vehicle offices in California. This means there will be an average of 8,000 new people crowding into already understaffed facilities, averaging 30 a day in every facility and extending the wait time.
If the Department of Motor Vehicles can't efficiently handle the crowds they have now, what will they do with 1.4 million new applicants?
