Golden Gate Bridge workers shift traffic lanes during the end of the morning commute Thursday in San Francisco.
The bridges Building and Operating Committee agreed to buy a $26.5 million barrier Thursday, and the full board is expected to accept the recommendation today. Friday Opposing traffic is now separated by a row of yellow plastic tubes.
The steel and concrete median would prevent head-on collisions. It would be moveable as well.
