Watt Avenue residents need city's attention

Re "Woman walking to work assaulted at Watt and I-80, police report" (Crime Reports, Sept. 20): It is not surprising to us who live near Watt Avenue and Auburn Boulevard to hear of the recent attack. It seems to be in an area that Sacramento has decided to just ignore.

Homeless camp in the park. Beggars work the intersections. Hookers and pimps walk the streets and ply their trade. Sexual meetings are made online and conducted not far from the overgrown baseball diamond.

I feel sorry for the woman who was assaulted, but if Sacramento is going to continue to ignore the lawbreakers who call this area their own, it is just the beginning.
