Re "Obama official needs to free up transit money" (Editorials, Aug. 14): In an environment of high unemployment that pits worker against worker, BART employees are a natural target of the vitriol surrounding the generic perception of public employees and their "extravagant" contracts.
The facts do not seem to matter to the editorial board. I am a transit vehicle electronic technician. I work on the electrical systems and subsystems of the rail cars. I make $27.50 an hour. Big deal.
How come nobody asked what the guys who worked on the Bay Bridge, which went over budget by 600 percent, made?
