Re "Eppie Johnson ran a great race indeed" (Editorials, Sept. 18): Eppie Johnson's name invokes memories of dining at his restaurants and the annual Eppie's Great Race which benefits Therapeutic Recreation Services. This program provides recreational opportunities for people with developmental disabilities which includes my son, Robert Hulse.
When asked to write down what TRS means to him, my son said it all. "It's about getting together with friends and having fun and enjoying vacations and camping. The staffs are great and there is no better place like TRS. It's a great program to be involved in and we will miss Eppie." Let's hope that future generations will continue to support such programs to benefit an otherwise obscure population who find it difficult to organize such activities. Eppie Johnson's legacy will not be forgotten.
