Did you know there’s a difference between chile powder and chili powder? Apparently this is something that every Californian knew except me. Ahem.
Chile powder is made from one specific groundup chile (cayenne, ancho, etc).
Chili powder is a combination of chile powder and other spices. The store brands usually include a bunch of salt and some silicon dioxide, which helps keep it from clumping. All these additives mean less spices and less flavor, though!

Undercover Cater shares the simple pleasures of broccoli and veggie soup
Before I went to New York, I had an informal poll over at the UC Facebook page on what recipes people wanted to see next. Out of all the recipes I listed, this simple broccoli soup was the big winner. Who’d have thunk?
This is the easiest soup to make in the world. Cook vegetables in stock. Blend. Add cream. Salt. Devour. Easily adapts to vegetarian with different stock, and seriously, it’s a decent way to clean out the veg drawer. Just don’t forget the broccoli, that’s the main thing.

If you are here for a recipe today, I apologize. Today I am going to get a little personal and dig a little deep.
If you have been following me on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, you probably have heard me talking about Sarah Jenks or Live More Weigh Less. (I promise, it is only for another week or two.) I try to keep the things here light and fun, but life is not always that way, is it?
This is hard to write, and definitely falls into the “uncomfortable” conversation category, but many of you have been here with me for years, and I feel like you are family. So I feel like I can tell you more about myself.
