Two pitchers who joined the Giants in 2007 could be making their final appearances in black and orange this week.

Barry Zito, 35, who never lived up to The Contract – a seven-year, $126 million deal he signed after seven seasons with the A's – made his final start for the Giants on Wednesday night.

Though Zito lost more games than he won with the Giants and often was vilified, no Giants fan will forget his contribution toward last season's World Series championship.

In his best season with the team, he went 15-8 during the regular season, followed by a huge victory over the Cardinals in Game 5 that sent the NLCS back to San Francisco, and a victory over the Tigers in the opening game of the World Series.

If not for Zito, would the Giants have won their second championship in three seasons?

In contrast, Tim Lincecum, 29, tonight's scheduled starter against the Dodgers, has enjoyed mostly a lovefest with Giants fans.

Though he has struggled the past three seasons, he won back-to-back Cy Young Awards (2008-09), beat the Rangers twice in the 2010 World Series and struck out eight Tigers batters in two relief appearances in the 2012 World Series.

He's a free agent, and it's uncertain if the Giants will try to re-sign him – or if he wants to return. Perhaps a change of scenery will do him good.
