Re "Tea party hero rankles colleagues" (Page A1, Sept. 26): More than 150 years ago, secessionists quoted chapter and verse to deny Americans their God-given right to freedom. Today, Republicans consumed by their rancor for the president are employing the same tactics to prohibit Americans access to health care.
The senator from Texas suggested his spiteful speech "helped frame the debate." His camp preaches a vindictive malevolence towards his fellow man; a mean-spirited, heartless and selfish condemnation of the poor and afflicted to their fates.
Whereas our president and the Democrats in Congress advocate for what many perceive to be decidedly Christian values -- goodwill, kindness, compassion, humility and charity.
Slavery versus freedom. Malignancy versus charity. Choose your side Americans. I'll end with lyrics from Rush, "Freewill" -- If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice."
